Fast Track to Health study
About
The Fast Track to Health study, also known as Fast Track or Fast Track Trial, was a randomised clinical trial that researched young people with health complications associated with high weight.
The study aimed to compare two different eating plans and measure the changes to participant's weight, risk of chronic disease, eating behaviours and psychological well-being.
Fast Track had over 140 young people participate over a period of 12 months. Participants were aged 13-17 years old, and identified to be at risk for diabetes, heart disease and or liver disease.
The study was conducted through the Obesity Research team based at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, and collaborating institutions including Be Active Sleep Eat (BASE) facility at Monash University and Monash Children's Hospital.
Findings

- Comparing both eating plans, there were no differences found in producing improved outcomes (see publication).
- Symptoms of depression, eating disorders and binge eating were reduced within the first 4 weeks (see publication).
