The Population Child Health Group is a multidisciplinary research group based at the University of NSW and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network. We work collaboratively with our partners to embed child health, implementation science and health economics researchers into health service initiatives to inform policy and service delivery.

We work with communities and partners across Australia and the world so we can conduct translational research that directly impacts minority groups, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations, refugees, communities of CALD (Culturally And Linguistically Diverse) backgrounds, and those living in socioeconomic disadvantage or out of home care.

Our partners include NSW Health, NSW Local Health Districts, Aboriginal Controlled Community Health Organisations, Primary Health Networks, and the national Child Unlimited Network.

Objectives

Our research aims to improve quality of care, integrate services, promote equity and enhance access for the ultimate benefit of children and young people. We achieve this by:

• Working with children and young people to discover the factors affecting their health, wellbeing, and access to the care they need.
• Conducting translational research that focuses on sustainably tailoring health systems to the needs of children and young people.
• Developing, implementing, and evaluating scalable interventions that can be delivered by existing practitioners to increase access to high quality paediatric care for all children.
