Laboratory Team
The Centre for Kidney Research Laboratory Team is science laboratory group based at Westmead, focused on immunology and genetics of kidney diseases and transplantation.
We have expertise in:
- Gene identification and treatment in genetic kidney disease
- Targeting regulatory T-cells (Tregs) for the treatment of autoimmune renal disease
- Glomerular podocyte injury and repair mechanisms/Studies for Kidney and Islet Transplantation Rejection/Experimental Glomerulonephritis
Impact
- We have established preclinical models with kidney diseases and developed AAV gene therapeutic strategies.
- We have established the chronic kidney disease preclinical models and developed Foxp3 induced Tregs for therapeutic strategies to treat chronic kidney disease.
- We have established kidney disease models and developed CRISPR gene editing for podocytes and tubular cell lines.
- We have established models of tolerance in kidney and skin transplant models.
